Selected Older Work

On this page, in no real sequential order, are samples of older work ranging from the1980s to the 2020s. In other words. a lifetime of work.

Ideas about how to or why to make a painting should never be fixed. They should be allowed to flow and evolve, often away from previous convictions. Those past convictions are still significant and are there to come back to if you see fit, but to play it safe, because of comfort or fear and ignore a new curiosity even though you're not sure where its headed is no way to be an artist.

Click any image to be directed to a page with samples of each.

Images two through thirteen is work that owes, to one degree or another, at least in its attitude, a nod to my years as a billboard painter. It has and continues to inform how I approach a painting.
