Innocents Presenting Beauty To The Bully Theory and
Untitled Metaphor With... 2003 to 2008?
On the wall of my studio, above the door I have written a quote by Leonardo Da Vinci. The quote is: "The supreme misfortune is when theory outstrips performance."
In 2003 I began this series. I was at a point where it seemed that art schools and the art world were drowning in theory and had abandon or were unaware of what real practice was. The situation seemed terribly one sided. Innocents Presenting Beauty to The Bully Theory was a reaction to those notions.
This series, along with its offshoot: Untitled Metaphor with... produced nearly forty paintings and over twenty drawings.
