GESSO FACES
This is a series is titled Gesso Faces. They are oil, acrylic, spray paint and gesso on canvas or paper. The canvas are 48 x 60 inches. The paper work is either, 26 x 40 or 38 x 50 inches.
They are built through distinct elements of painting's visual language. In that regard they are paintings about painting. Beyond that, depending on the viewer, there's more.
They evolved from a series of paint can lids that I made during my years as a billboard painter.
