STILL LIFES FROM
1996/97

Below are three from a series of twelve from 1996/97. These are the beginning of a series that were heavily influenced by my years as a billboard painter.
For four years, six days a week for fifty-eight hours. I painted, forty-eight by fifteen foot photorealistic images along with text. Three nights a week I taught beginning two dimensional composition at The Ohio State University.
There was little else going on in my head but painting and composition. Through that, these were born. They say a little about alot but mostly they're about painting.
Shortly after, at forty-five I accepted a tenure line position at OSU. That's when this work began.
